The journey of being successful is like a ladder, missing a step can really hurt. However, there are many many things you can change in your life to achieve success. The list can be so endless, but starting up by just picking a few skill to master that you think can help you is key. Then you can focus on them.
[lwptoc]
However, I will be deliberating on 15 Skills You Need To Master To Become Successful.
1. Avoid replaying negative thoughts in your mind
Negative thoughts are one of the major struggles you might encounter. Most times when people are asked not to think about a specific issue, it makes it even harder for them to get it off their minds. However, rehashing negative thoughts over and over in your head, can be very unpleasant and counterproductive
The more you replay negative thoughts in your mind, the more you are practicing feeling that emotion, which means the more you believe it.
The key is to recall memories or mistakes you’ve made in the past, and see them through a lens of learning. Reframe them as moments of growth.
More so, always remember that just because you have a negative thought doesn’t mean you have to believe it.
Fear is a liar and if you struggle with fear and negative thoughts, it’s because you believe the lies that they tell. What you fear does not exist. Fear may look and feel true but it isn’t.

2. Belief
The road to success starts with the action you take and action starts with one critical element which is belief.
Belief brings commitment and persistence
Is there anything you love so much you’d do it every day and enjoy it every time? I’ll bet it’s something you believe in. When we believe in a vision, we have the energy to keep pursuing it. We do what it takes to help bring the vision to life.
The question now to answer, is your belief strong enough to knock down the walls you’ll inevitably face while pursuing your objective? If so, you’ll be a winner because winners develop an ability to push aside distractions while staying intensely focused on the end goal. The passion necessary to do so is fueled by an unwavering belief in yourself and your capabilities.

4. Courage
The most significant virtue is Courage . Courage has supreme quality and better power to deal with any tough situations in life. Courage makes you quality individual with strength better than all the other virtues.
A dedicated entrepreneur finds the courage necessary to bust through fear. As an example, I am fearful of public speaking, yet it is often necessary.
To hit success you need to practice the skill of being courageous. You can start by taking time to practice in front of your family or small group of friends. Also gain valuable experience and greater confidence in yourself by doing the things you fear, and also things that gives you goose bumps and great tension. Summon the courage to walk through it all.

5. Flexibility
One thing about an inflexible mind is that it jumps to conclusions before gathering all of the facts. Many people have made the mistake of forming an opinion about someone before he or she finished speaking, only to find out later that our opinion was way off.
Flexibility allows us to set our personal beliefs and prejudices aside and truly observe and listen to varying points of view–opening our eyes to new ways of viewing the world around us. By being flexible you have the ability to change yourself when needed. This is fundamental when it comes to facing challenges.
To master the skill of being flexible, you must first define your limits and boundaries. In businesses large and small, and in life, flexibility is a critical skill to master because even the strongest of us can snap when we are stretched past our breaking point.

Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. Success will definitely come and go but, integrity is forever.
Integrity goes along way to help you identify your strengths and character defects. It helps you make an honest assessment of who you are and what you are capable of. We need integrity to draw and keep the right people, both employees and customers. When people look to their leaders, they respect the person whose words match their actions. Integrity binds us together.
Things to consider to help you build up integrity are;
- Decide to change.
- Believe in yourself, and in change.
- Foster your self-esteem.
- Be conscious of the decisions you make.
- Place yourself in a facilitating environment.
- Avoid succumbing to peer pressure.
- Be polite.
- Empathize.

7. Mentorship
Mentorship is so important, these is where you get to learn from those who are skilled and experienced in your field. To achieve success through positive mentorship or coaching, you must first be open to receiving coaching
When you allow yourself to be mentored by someone, you tap into a wealth of information, communication and conversation. Due to the nature of the relationship, a mentor can tell you the truth about yourself or your business as the right mentor already walked the path you are now on. Out of their experience, a mentor informs you of the pitfalls you might face and can teach you how to approach and conquer challenges.
To be mentored watch out for the following
- Find someone you want to be like. .
- Study the person.
- Make the “ask”
- Evaluate the fruit.
- Follow up after the meeting.
- Let the relationship evolve organically.
- Don’t check out when you feel challenged.
- Press into relationship.

8. Willingness
willingness to learn and a desire to do so should not be underestimated. Building a startup is an experience unlike any other.
Are you willing to do whatever it takes, as long as the “it” is ethical? Will you work 12-hour-days for weeks, with no paycheck? Will you clean toilets, sweep floors and empty trash? Are you willing to forgo material pleasures while building your dream? Can you ask for help? Are you willing to listen to constructive criticism? Will you set aside your ego and accept opportunities for growth as they come? Will you commit the time to continually expand your knowledge base?
Growth requires education and dedication. You must be willing to go the extra mile and be able to see success before it materializes. You must work like no one else to succeed like no one else. This is by no means an exhaustive list, but a basic skill set you need to start strong, maintain focus and achieve success.

9. Never stop optimizing.
As soon as you stop trying to improve, you’re no longer working toward success. At best, you will remain stagnant. Part of the “success process” is continuing to optimize and learning to make the best use of your resources over time.
The process of developing, constructing and reconstructing is part of a journey that never ends. It’s a skill to be able to constantly look for ways to improve. But just like anything else, the more you practice it, the better you’ll get.
Keep testing new strategies and collaborating on different methodologies. Pioneers are those who push the boundaries and carve their own path in life.

To be successful you have to build yourself a successful environment. Where you work and where you spend the majority of your time has a huge impact on what you accomplish and how you feel about it. The right environment will help you feel more engaged in and enthusiastic about your work. A negative environment will suck the joy and inspiration out of you.
There are elements of the environment you can easily influence and others that are much harder to change or it’s even impossible to do so. Here is a very general scale from the easiest to the hardest elements of your environment to be influenced :
- Your possessions
- Home decorations
- Office decorations, if there is no company policy that’s preventing you from doing it
- Market trends
- Your mentor
- Friends
- Spouse – depending if you are married or not, and how long you’ve been in a relationship
- The company you work for, your coworkers and your boss
- Your primary family culture
- PESTLE factors – if you don’t decide to change the country
Based on the list about it’s time to express your power by changing your environment.

11. Visualize your success.
When it comes to visualization, We must “see that image” in our mind before we ever venture forth to manifest it.
In visualizing your success
- Decide exactly what you want by Simply getting very clear on your goal and make it believable, yet just out of reach. As you become an expert at visualization you will naturally set your sights higher.
- Choose an image: Choose at least one image to hold in your mind’s eye as you go through your daily visualization process. How will it feel to increase profits by 30%? How will you know that you have succeeded? Capture a visual of your celebration or of taking that vacation that you’ve put off for five years.
- Visualize daily: After you become skilled at visualization you will be able to do it anywhere, but in the beginning a quiet space is a must. Make yourself comfortable and focus on your breathing. Relax. Now see that image of success and allow your mind to wander with the image. See yourself on that vacation. Imagine taking those checks to the bank. Step into the feeling and power of this image; make it very real. It’s important to hold this heightened feeling for at least 20 seconds, but 10-15 minutes is ideal.
Be consistent and don’t give up. And then come tell us about how you made your dream became reality.

You need to know your purpose and follow through on your core beliefs and values. After all, nothing will destroy your credibility like a lack of connection between what you say and what you do.
So say what you’re going to do, follow through with it and, above all, believe it. Keep walking the walk and you’ll achieve your goals while inspiring others to do the same.

14. Ask questions, constantly.
We all know it’s important to listen…but successful people have discovered that it’s equally as important to ask questions. For them, it’s an innate ability to partly ask for what they want or need and partly ask others what they want or need.
If you’re unsure about something, make sure you ask. If you don’t, you will be wasting precious time, you could be getting yourself into a lot of trouble (or earning extra hours at work when you don’t want to be at work).
Then they respond to each other with good, solid information that the other person can actually use. And it’s pretty darn effective.

15. End each day in reflection.
It’s easy to get stuck on the treadmill of life, running from one thing to the next without considering how everything you do is interconnected. But if you want to have sustained success, you need to make time to reflect at the end of each day.
Setting aside even five minutes to consider what went well and what didn’t will give you an awareness of the issues and flaws that you need to address. Reflection, whether it’s daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, is a key part of continuing to improve and refine over time.
